Should The Gorilla Have Been Shot: Yes Or No?

Is that really what is important, though?

In the past couple of years there have been two big animal shootings. It seems as if when the gorilla and lion were killed, Americans needed to fall all over each other to figure out if it was right . However, is that really where our focus should be when it comes to life and death situations?

Every year in the United States, over 400,000 babies are aborted. With Roe v. Wade in 1973, abortion was made legal. It seems to me when these types of situations arise that people get more amped up over animal rights than human rights. Don’t get me wrong, Cecil the lion or Harambe the gorilla should not have had to be killed and there is a problem that should be addressed in those situations. Although, ultimately, it does come down to a life or death topic when you break it down. If the number of people who reacted to the video of Harambe could react to the outrage of a live human baby being murdered within the womb the world would be different place. I am drawn back personally by this and cannot seem to wrap my mind completely around it.

To overturn Roe v. Wade will take a lot of work and I got the chance to see the work in progress during one March for Life in Washington D.C. while still in high school. You would be amazed to see the 250,000 to 500,000 people line the streets of the Mall and D.C. It is truly a mind-blowing experience to watch these people so passionate for what they believe in. Imagine though if that was mixed with the over 15 million people that watched the video of Harambe. Can you imagine how that would affect the world we live in? Not only pro-life topics, but other issues, would change. I hope to someday say that as a nation we can realize really where our priorities should lie and what is truly important. There are so many ways to be active in situations that should be spoken up about. Sure, pro-life relates directly to this topic, but lets say you are passionate about the homeless, sick or poor. Can you imagine if 15 million people cared about what you are passionate about? So, lets focus on what is beyond important in the world today and put our minds to use for more than animal rights.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
