Unless you've been living under a rock, you have probably heard about the newest YouTube/Beauty Community drama. If not, consider yourself lucky!

Every time I go on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, I see comment after comment about the James Charles and Tati drama. It has gotten old quickly and I am tired of seeing it. So, I decided to look up non-problematic news stories, and I would like to share some of them with you.

1. ​​"After 2,381 Days In A Shelter, A Dog Finally Gets It Fur-ever Home"

A German shepherd named Higgins spent most of his life in the shelter, but Leslie Renner did not give up on him. Higgins was most content when he wasn't around other animals, which made it difficult for people to want to adopt him. Higgins is also a senior dog, and most people want to adopt puppies.

Then, one day, Brendon Reed came to the shelter asking to adopt Higgins! Now, Higgins is enjoying his life with his new owner.

2. "Third Grade Students Become Friends With A 95-Year-Old WWII Veteran"

Students from Iowa have created a friendship with 95-year-old Mrs. Elaine Hamilton. Mrs. Elaine Hamilton would come to listen to the students read; she would come so often that the students threw her a birthday party. But, because of her age, Mrs. Elaine Hamilton can no longer visit the students.

Nonetheless, the students video-chat with her every day. Mrs. Elaine Hamilton impacted the students so much that one student says her reading scores were so high because she was reading to Mrs. Hamilton. All the students love her and had such wonderful things to say about her.

3. "4-Year-Old With A Rare Blood Disease Becomes Deputy For A Day"

4-year-old Omar was diagnosed with a rare blood disease when he was six months old, but thanks to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Omar's wish of becoming a deputy came true.

Omar has to get weekly blood transfusions, but when he was the deputy for the day, he could forget all about it. Omar was all smiles on this day, thanks to his partner for the day Chris Guerra and all the other police officers who were there for Omar.

4. "A Small Gift And A Note Creates A Chain Of Paying It Forward"

Ashley Jost bought a self-help book from Target, and when she returned home, she found $5 and a thoughtful note tucked in the book. She shared her story on Twitter, and it was shared more than 3,000 times.

This story touched so many people that people are now pledging to do more random acts of kindness and pay it forward, such as placing Starbucks gift cards throughout a college campus or paying for someone's groceries. This story just goes to show what one small act can do.

5. "Preschool Friends Who Reconnect Get Married" 

Natalie Crowe and Austin Tatman were great friends in preschool; they were always hanging out. But Crowe's family moved over 1,000 miles away. The best friends didn't see or hear from each other for 12 years.

Natalie winds up finding Austin on social media and they began to reform their friendship. The two began a long-term relationship and found ways to go to each other's proms. Now, 22 years since the first time they met, they become husband and wife.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
