I’ve never really been the type of person to just sit down and watch a movie beginning to end.
While the idea of putting my PJs on and watching movies all day sounds nice, I have just never been one to sit down that long and watch it all the way through without picking my phone up once or twice…or maybe long enough to realize I’ve been on my phone through the whole first half of the movie.
Recently, I have found myself watching more movies in my free time and I’m not going to lie, I have really enjoyed it.
I like all types of movies from action to romance and comedies and I’m not really the type of person that has a favorite. I like to watch a movie once, say it was good, recommend it to a friend or whatever and that’s about it.
I don’t see a point in watching it over and over again after I have already seen it, but after the most recent movie, I watched I’d have to change that.
Not long ago I went and saw the movie, Wonder.
I had been wanting to see it for awhile and had heard nothing but good reviews so I figured why not. After watching it I can totally agree that everyone should watch that movie no matter what your age is. It was such a good movie and had an even better message.
During those 2 hours that I sat glued to the screen, I realized so much. The best part about it is that you choose what you want to see it and each person can take away a different message.
You choose what you want to see, not just in a movie, but in people as well.
There were certain quotes mentioned in the movie such as, “When given the choice to be right or kind, choose kind” and “Why blend in when you were born to stand out.”
Auggie was a boy who had a facial deformity and struggled with being bullied because of it. He started school with no friends and hated it. As the days went on the kids began to know Auggie as a person and look past his facial features. In other words, they learned to not judge a book by its cover, which whether we chose to believe it or not, we all do.
We all judge people by their appearance and feel that we already know that person before even saying a word to them.
Wonder is a movie that allows us to realize these things we do without even knowing we do it and also allows us to realize it through the actions in the movie, which I loved. You were actually able to see what it was life was like in somebody else’s world and know that everybody has struggled and that is okay.
Everyone wants to be that “normal” kid, but in reality, no one is truly ordinary. We are all different, but that’s okay because that is how it is supposed to be. First, we just have to learn how to love ourselves for who we are and then the rest will all begin to make sense.
Thank you, Wonder for the great life lessons you have taught me. I think I’ll definitely be watching this one twice!
