What's the first thing you think of when you hear New Orleans? Food? Me too. I have spent the last three years traveling to New Orleans for the great food and even better atmosphere. Over the years a few restaurants have really stood out. I am here to share them with you below so you can spend less time debating restaurants and more time eating.

1. New Orleans Food and Spirits

Oysters, Fish, Shrimp, Crawfish, everything you can think of. The Restaurant has three locations (the one in Covington being my favorite.) The servers are sweet, the price is average, and the food is excellent. Their crawfish corn chowder has to be my favorite thing on the menu. Although the oysters pictured above are good as well.

2. Johnny's Po-Boys

New Orleans is filled with great Po-Boys. There are so many to choose from it's overwhelming! My favorite (after sampling many) has to be Johnny's. The Poy-Boys range from shrimp to alligator. Not only is the food great but the restaurant has a beautiful view. Prepare yourself, it is always crowded and you have to know what you want when it is your turn in line. The restaurants' balcony sits on the edge of a beautiful historical street.

3. Café Du Monde

An iconic New Orleans classic, Beignets. I have a tip for you, DO NOT rub the powder. It will just sink deeper into your clothes. All jokes aside, Café Du Monde is the classic dining area for New Orleans most famous dessert. This restaurant only serves drinks and beignets so show up with your sweet tooth.

4. Commanders Palace

If you're looking for something fancy and a taste of "Southern Belle" I would suggest Commanders Palace. It is located in the Garden District. Home to historic homes, cemeteries, and great food. The food is on the expensive side and I would research the dress code. I am into more laid back type places but this is exactly what some people may be looking for.

5. Toups' Meatery

Great for taste testing many foods. This restaurant is also on the high price end but very worth it. The menu ranges from cheese boards, chicken, crab, and so much more. If you're looking for great tasting food and willing to pay the price but not follow a dress code, this is the place.

It's hard to narrow New Orleans down to a few restaurants. While there are many other great places to eat these are among my top favorite. What ever you do, eat a Po-Boy. Eat red beans and rice. Eat beignets. Do not waste your time at a chain restaurant!!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
