College is a great time to meet new people. We are all able to make new friends from different cities, states, and even countries. While we are in college, we are able to learn about where everyone came from and about what they love about their hometown. We can also tell our new friends about where we are from and about what we love about our own hometown. But what's great about college is that there's always a chance you'll go to the same college as someone from your hometown whether you know them or not. It's great knowing that you're going to college with someone you can relate to when it comes to talking about home. These are some reasons why it is fun to go to college with someone from home.

1. You both know people from back home, whether it is from mutual friends or mutual family friends.

You love the fact that when you tell a story, you are both able to talk about the same people and understand the stories that are being told.

2. You both know which restaurants to go to when you are back home.

Every city or town have their own unique and special restaurants. It's great when you both love the same restaurants and crave the same foods.

3. Fun road trips home!

Everyone gets homesick. Now when you go home, you can both go together to make the drive home into an adventure. Jamming out to music and laughing while driving home is much more fun when you have someone with you.

4. You discover places you've both been.

Maybe there's a nice lake you go to with your family during the summer that's near your home. To find out that you both go there during the summer is great because all this time you guys were in the same places at the same time without even knowing.

5. You both share the same values and ideas.

Cities and small towns may share the same values and ideas. It's nice knowing that someone from your hometown understands where you're coming from and can relate to anything with you.

6. You both have the same accents and slang.

From calling soda "pop" to the way you pronounce coffee you both remind each other of home when you're just having a simple conversation.

So when you think about it, it is great to make friends in college but it is all even better when you go to college with someone from home. They give you a sense of home away from home. Even though you still miss being home it is nice to have someone who can relate to you in many ways.

Our hometown has a lot of meaning to us. And having someone to share that with while you're at college helps a lot when you are missing home.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
