God's Waiting, Where Are You?

"Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Return to Me," declares the LORD of hosts, "that I may return to you," says the LORD of hosts. — Zechariah 1:3

God's waiting. Constantly. He's patient and waits daily for you. He's waiting for the moment that you surrender your life back to Him. God captures our hearts in the most unexpected moments. Whether it be in a sunset, a flight above the clouds, looking at a skyline of a city, watching as a waterfall naturally has beauty.

There are so many examples of how God can be there and be present in the moments when you think He is not.

Often, I know I forget that God is always there.

I have to be reminded that Christ is the only one who can bring me true peace. During my sophomore year of college, I constantly lost sight of what I believed. Actually, to be quite blunt I didn't believe at all. I didn't believe God was sovereign. I didn't believe He wanted my own good. I didn't believe that men of God were worth it, so I found myself chasing after guys that were just duds.

Leaving Christ was honestly the worst yet the best thing I could have done. I found myself writing articles about how the church abandoned me, but I'm the one who abandoned God and his people. Mentors and friends rallied and prayed over me for months, and they began losing hope of whether or not I would ever come back.

Let me tell y'all. GOD IS SOVEREIGN. HE IS HERE. HE WANTS YOUR HEART. It has taken me a long time to realize this, but He wants nothing but the best for you. Don't allow your stubborn self to get caught up in stupidity because you want your life your way and not God's way.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
