A few months back, one of my friends posted a picture on her Instagram of a wave ring. I immediately fell in love with it and had to find one of my own. I have always loved simplistic jewelry that holds meaning. So, upon purchasing this wave ring, I researched to try to find its hidden meaning: what does this ring represent to other people?
Some say it represents "strength, beauty, and possibility."
Others say it "symbolizes the ups and downs we see in life... a reminder to stay positive, happy, and strong regardless of what life throws your way."
The description of the wave ring that stood out the most to me was: "Like a wave, God's love for us is powerful and lasts forever."
I was sold on purchasing this ring after reading that description. Because let's face it, life can be tough. Sometimes it is easy to feel as if you aren't loved... as if you are completely alone... but this ring serves as a daily reminder that I am loved and never alone. You are loved and never alone.
God's love for His children is everlasting and unwavering. He loves each and every one of us, our thoughts of imperfections, insecurities, and all. All you girls that think you aren't pretty enough, or tall enough, or skinny enough, or smart enough, you're wrong. You are perfect the way you are. All you guys that think you aren't tough enough, or fast enough, or smart enough, or good enough, you're wrong. You are perfect the way you are. We all are because God made us in HIS image:
"You are altogether beautiful my love; there is no flaw in you." Song of Solomon 4:7
I took this cover photo for this article on the last night of my spring break trip a few weeks ago at the beach. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous, and I wanted a picture of my wave ring in front of the waves with the sunset in the background. I was hesitant to take the picture and use it for this article simply because my nail polish was chipped and I thought it would ruin the picture. But as I stood on the beach taking in the sunset and all of our Lord's beautiful creation, I was reminded of the reason I wear the ring in the first place: God's love for me, including what I consider my imperfections.
I still wear the ring every day as a reminder of God's overwhelming, powerful love, but I now also have the cover photo of this article as the background of my phone. It serves as a reminder of the obvious: like an oceans' wave, God's love for us is powerful. But, if you look closer at the picture and notice the footprints in the sand, that serves as a reminder to keep moving forward no matter what I face in life because no matter what, God will be right there (and loving me along the way of course).
So maybe now you want a wave ring. Or, maybe now you just know why I love mine so much. Either way, I hope you know that God's love for you, yes YOU, is absolutely amazing. He is there with you and loving you each and every day, and nothing you do will ever change that.
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow- not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
