Oh, Valentine’s Day. One of the most loved and hated holidays of the year. A truly polarizing time that means something different for everyone.
No matter who you are, it’s a reminder that this world judges your worth based on your relationship with a significant other. I find that to be a very sad thing.
For me, it’s a day to celebrate the love in my life, love that shows itself in all kinds of ways. I reach out to my friends and family and express my appreciation for them. I try to show extra support to those who I know might be hurting. And when I don’t have someone by my side to celebrate this day with, I’ll admit that it’s hard.
But that’s okay, because I know there’s someone out there who loves me more than anyone else ever has, or ever will.
God’s love continues to amaze me. Every time I mess up, every time I forget that he’s with me, every time I get angry that he’s silent, he continues to show me his love. The best part is that I don't have to wait until Valentine's Day to experience it. God's love for me is greater than any valentine. And you know what? He loves you just as much.
The Bible is filled with verses that describe this great love. Here are 12 of my favorites.
1. 1 John 4:19
"We love because he first loved us."
2. John 15:12
"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

4. 1 John 3:1a
"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!
5. Psalm 103:8
"The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love."
6. Romans 8:35
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?"
7. Ephesians 2:4-5
"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved."
8. John 13:35
"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
9. Revelation 3:19

12. Galatians 5:6

I know that I am truly and deeply loved, this Valentine's Day and every day. Remember that God has that same love for you as well.
