There are different parts of our beauty. Right now, I want to focus on the mental beauty. So often we hear a little voice in our heads that denies our beauty in every way. The sad part is that even when we're constantly told that these are lies from the devil, we still end up believing them. Whether we're believing that we're not smart enough, not good enough, not athletic enough, not as good as her at sports or art or dance or whatever it is that at the end of the day is beating you down.
In the midst of believing these lies, we doubt our beauty. And when we doubt our beauty, we doubt our God who made us in his image and likeness, who loves us, who is Love itself. By believing the devil's lies, we doubt his love by saying how could he love me? I'm broken. I'm a mess. I'm not worth loving. We need to forgive ourselves for doubting God and ask him for the grace to love and serve him. He will lead us from temptation, he will deliver us from evil, all we need to do is turn to the Lord and ask. He is always knocking. All we have to do is open the door and let him into our lives.
Remember that this battle has already been won for us. But whether or not you enter into that victory is a choice only you can make. In the gospel of Matthew Jesus says, "Come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden, I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." He lifted our burdens upon the cross, we just need to continue to remember that, and ask for more of his grace to follow his will for us.
All that matters is where we go from here. Sitting in self-pity because of the devil's lies isn't going to solve anything. What will help, is calling upon the Lord for help and for more of his grace. Just because I've gone and made mistakes which caused my unhappiness, does not mean you have to. Crystalina Evert says, "Don't be controlled by the amount of attention and approval that you receive. Stop being ashamed of yourself…do not shy from who you are because you fear abandonment or negative opinions of others."
The devil place labels on us to cause us to lose our trust in God. He chose the wrong path and will do anything to keep the ones God loves as far away from him as possible. He gives us labels like, an embarrassment, a mistake, unloved, worthless, and so on. He distracts us from our true identity.
Remember that you are beautiful, inside and out. Crystalina Evert says, "Know who you are and what you are not. You are a beloved daughter of Jesus, He who is God."
