Why do we need God in a time like this and not just simply our government? Everyone has seen the news, church massacres, Las Vegas strip shootings and New York's latest terrorist attack.

Everyone knows that our world today is not what it was even 10 years ago. So many people wonder why all of these horrendous events are occurring in America. I have your answer.

America was founded on a basis of Christianity. A basis of prayer. A basis of acknowledgment towards God. It is no coincidence that these gruesome tragedies are occurring in America at the same time the word of God is becoming extinct in our political realm.

Individuals are struggling with experiencing and coming to know God, but at the same time our government is pushing out any signs of Christianity from the laws and premise that our lives revolve around.

Legalizing gay marriage, legalizing abortion and the terms of the death penalty are just some of the unethical ways that our government is pushing the word of God out of American culture and government. When it comes down to it, knowing God has such a huge impact on social and behavioral issues in the world.

America's fast approaching disappearance of Christianity is not only affecting how people are beginning to disrespect each other but how they are losing respect for human life itself. Although our government and popular media figures like to think they can contain this violence and hate through gun laws and replacing political figures, the harsh truth is that our government will never be able to control the insane people who cause these tragedies.

Gun laws will not stop a person from illegally buying a gun to shoot up a church. Replacing our President, Donald Trump, will not suddenly resolve all political or social divides. These are cowardly and temporary fixes to a much bigger issue. If our government cannot stop the downward spiral America is experiencing, what can?

We do not need to fix our government for the betterment of American society. Our government needs to fix the newly formed "social norms" in which they indirectly created with the sweeping out of Christianity. Different religious beliefs are inevitable and that is just fine. But America was founded on Christian beliefs and it's that and Christian based constitutionality that have upheld America to the standard it has embodied for so long.

With all of this being said, America is not doomed, we are not at loss of humanity. We are struggling tremendously but what keeps us going are the people on the other end of the spectrum.

The reason we need God in America today way more than we will ever need our government is simply because our government will fail us, they cannot control all that they wish to but in the end there is a hope far beyond faith in our government and that is faith that our God will not fail us and can control anything he wishes to.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
