God Always Comes First

Everything else is afterward

The number one priority in life is God. Everything that has happened to me, either good or bad is made by God. I believe that everything happens for a reason. We might not think so, but it is. As a person gets older and matures, I feel people gain more wisdom and knowledge. It has been highly discussed whether He exists. In the Greek Orthodox tradition we believe that both God and Jesus existed. It is like Christianity with subtle differences. Ever since I was young I attended church and was highly involved in the service. It really is a great thing to help out the church you go to and have respect for it.

Almost anything good that happens in my life I can thank God and Jesus for. For giving me life, for giving me good health, for getting a college education, or for even giving me great family and friends. Nowadays, I feel like people are not happy with what they have. People are not grateful and only want more and more. I am guilty of this myself at times and realize that it is wrong. It is great to also go to confession as well to discuss your sins that you have committed with a priest, where he forgives you of your sins. All people have sins. Although, we must ask for forgiveness and pray, everyone makes mistakes, but it is good to learn from them. Through time, I have realized to really thank God for everything I have, sure it's not perfect, but it isn't bad.

At a young age, I was put into the altar, which is a position where I serve the priest. I really embraced the role and became great at it. I did it for approximately ten years and I still go in at times and train other young kids to serve and tell them what to do. Either going out for entrances or using the incensor and how to use it.

Even at our lowest points, when we think we will not get through something, through God, we are able too. At my lowest points when I was down, something good happens to me even if at that time I don't think it is. We all have bad times, but it is meant to make us stronger. The hard times will go away. It will pass and you can get through it. Never lose faith. Put God into your life and you will not feel sorry for it.

God really does come first at all times. College and everything else is second. Without God, we would not have everything else that we have today. The world would not be here today. In my opinion, God made the world and made us. There is evidence that Jesus existed. In my religion, his son died for us and I am grateful and indebted to him. I am open to all other views and other people's religious views and respect them for their own views. America gives us the right to pursue and believe in any religion we want to believe in. The two people I thank for everything and that I respect the most is both God and Jesus. God continues to serve as my first priority and always will.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
