Here we are, about halfway through 2020, and many of us are dealing with the negative impact of COVID-19. Some of us have lost loved ones, others might have lost jobs resulting in a tight moment in our lives where we are unable to make rent, and others are dealing with frequent episodes of depression or other mental illness.
Although we are are dealing with the implications of this unfortunate situation there are ways that we can help take away some of the stress that is piling on top of us every moment of the day by implementing these tools into our lives:
- Cleaning
- Call a friend (or video call if your phone has the ability)
- Play with your pets
- Take a bubble bath
- Play a video game
- Watch one of your favorite movies or find something new on Netflix
- Meditate
- Turn on some music and have a little dance (Wanna make it fun? Have a dance off with those you live with.)
- Read
- Have a spa day: face mask, foot soak, etc.
- Journal
- Paint
- Create new recipes
- Create a gratitude list
- Workout (there are millions of at home workout videos on Youtube)
- Garden
- Aromatherapy
- Lighting a scented candle
- Identify your needs
- Try different breathing techniques
While these are not all of the different tools at our disposal, these are the ones that we can start with right now before adding many more to the ever ending list. During this time we need to take it one day at a time and try to stay educated and safe, that being said please stay indoors if you have been tested positive with COVID-19, and if you are showing symptoms please go to your local testing center to be tested. For those who are still unsure of how to try and prevent possible contamination there are measures that can be used to prevent it: wash your hands for twenty seconds, wear a mask if you are going out in public (ex. grocery store), stand 6 feet apart from those around you.
