15 Glaring Contradictions Of Republicanism
Current Affairs

I'm a moderate. I've seen both sides and even researched deeper into Republican values. I'm confused about a few things that just don't make any sense. Theoretically, Republican values are fine, not for me and suitable to my values, but not evil or stupid. But like communism, it sounds great on paper but is horrible when enacted by humans. Here are a few things I just don't understand about Republicanism:

1. Tout your strong belief in Christianity but unwilling to aid the poor through government relief programs?

2. Willing to spend billions on military funding but unwilling to aid the poor?

3. Hates ObamaCare and calls it socialism when its literally based off of RomneyCare? Admit you just don't want it to be named "Obamacare" because you can't stand that we had (*cries buckets*) a Black President

4. How can you say you're Christian but you don't support helping the poor or loving thy neighbor?

5. All lives matter but we shouldn't help Syrian refugees?

6. Global warming is a myth but you're willing to believe that Obama was born in Kenya?

7. You wouldn't have to lie and make up events (cough cough bowling Green massacre cough cough terrorist attack in Sweden) if your values and beliefs were founded on the truth. You wouldn't have to lie and make falsehoods if you weren't deceiving yourselves. You wouldn't have to lie if the facts and the truth were on your side.

8. Twist the truth to fit into your falsehoods

9. "Gay people shouldn't shove their lifestyle and gayness down our throats" but we should have the cross in all classrooms and we should teach the Bible and Christianity in our public schools

10. "We need to follow the Constitution strictly and live like how our founding fathers intended for Americans" but the Constitution advocates for separation of church and state which is what you advocate for?

11. Slams Bill Clinton for Monica Lewinsky scandal but defends trump when he's been accused of sexual assault?

12. We should lower our taxes but increase military spending? Like how is that even going to work?

13. Obsessed and worships Trump but Christianity's 10 commandments say to never place anyone above God?

14. Why do you hate gays but God said to love thy neighbor

15. Hillary should be "locked up" for using a private email server but its okay when Mike Pence does it?

Your priorities aren't straight. They're not founded on a common value base. You switch logic and twist things around to fit different instances. Also, stop using Christianity when it suits you and abandoning it when it doesn't. Manipulating religion for your own selfish goals-- I'm pretty sure that's some sort of sin.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
