It's the happiest time of year and everyone is searching for those special gifts for the special people in their lives. Like anyone else, I love getting gifts, but I would rather give than receive. It gives me pure joy when I get someone exactly what they wanted.
The best gift I gave was to my middle sister who was dying for Hunter rain boots. I knew how badly she wanted them because she probably told me 100 times. She had to have them or the world would end. Hunter rain boots are not cheap and being a college student, I was on a very low budget. I knew I had to find a way to get my sister these boots so she would not take mine. My brother and cousin Lauren all chipped in to get these boots. Then I had to go find them and of course hide them from my sister.
Christmas morning came, and my sister was ripping through her presents left and right. She was grateful for everything she received, but the look on her face was still disappointing. My brother and I looked at each other and gave her the last gift. She ripped it open and immediately started screaming in joy. She ripped open the box and hugged the boots! She said, "You got me the BOOTS!" I heard that the whole day.
The look on her face was priceless and it was the same look she had on her face when we went to Disney World. Who would of thought rain boots would give her the same expression as Disney World.
I don't need anything big and fancy as long as I'm with my loved ones and they're happy. When I'm shopping, I buy little gifts that remind me of the people I'm shopping for and it shows that I know them and that I'm thinking about them.
This holiday season, do not dwell on what you did not receive, but focus on the gifts you are giving and how they will make your loved ones feel.
