Whenever I come home for the summer, I always feel like the walls in my room are so empty. Most of my cute room decor is at my apartment at college, and I always have this feeling to vibe my room up a bit. I feel like my room always need a refreshed look to it. Here are some easy ways to get your room looking awesome for the summer.

1. Light it up

Okay, so I may have an obsession when it comes to sparkly lights in my room, but they are just so cute and cool. Also, lights come in different shapes, sizes, and colors, so you can get almost any kind you want. You can get some little hanging lights and hang them up all around your room if you're feeling it. Just get some command strip hangers, some lights and you're set.

2. Paint the walls

If you're feeling spontaneous, get you some nice color and paint your walls. You can go to Lowes or Home Depot and get some paint and brushes. Then next thing you know, you got a good looking room with some brand new color!

3. Plants! Flowers! Nature!!

Plants always can make your room a little more lively! Whether you want to get real plants or fake ones, they are a total plus. You can go to like Michaels and get a whole bunch of cool bottles or glasses to put your plants or flowers in, and it totally gives your room a good looking vibe.

4. Pillows = Comfy

Want some new cute pillows for your bed? Home stores almost always have some pillows on sale, and sometimes you can find some super cute ones! Pillows always add a new look to your bed and make your whole room look cozy.

5. Add some wall decor

You can always find wall decor to go with whatever style you want for your room. Check out Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, or Michaels! They always have super cool wall decor and normally, you can find a good sale.

6. Command Strips are the bomb!

If you are ever hanging things up, command strips are always the go to. They are super easy, and the best thing is that they do not leave any marks on your walls. These always make decorating nice and easy!

7. Candles and Accessories

Once you get your room looking nice, it's always good to make it smell good too. You can get some pretty candles that give you a bonus to the decor and give your room a nice scent as well. You can also add little things to your desk or dresser such as notebooks, pictures, calendars, and anything that is useful.

If you are interested in adding more to your room, try some of these out and make it unique to your style. Your room is supposed to make you feel at home the most, so do you and have some fun with it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
