When You Give A Girl A Sorority
Madison Zegarlowicz

When you give a girl a sorority, you give her a family. You give her sisters she can turn to, whether it’s 3 p.m. or 3 a.m., with all of life’s happy moments and grievances.

When you give a girl a sorority, you give her the confidence boost she has always needed. Leaving behind high school insecurities, she is stepping into her life with her sorority sisters who will, without fail, hype up every selfie she posts and compliment every one of her outfits (yes, every single one).

When you give a girl a sorority, you are giving her a group of girls who will always pick her up when she falls. You are giving her a group of girls who will tell her one hundred times that the boy is not worth it, that she is the sun, and more important than any stupid boy ever will be.

When you give a girl a sorority, you are giving her reassurance that she will never be alone. Whether she needs someone to eat with, talk with, study with, or run errands with, her sisters will be there. When her world is at its best, she will always have someone to freak out and do a happy dance with. When her world is falling to pieces, her sisters will be there to hold her up and help her through the storm.

When you give a girl a sorority, you are giving her a big sister. Someone she can always count on, someone she trusts endlessly, and someone she would do anything and everything for.

When you give a girl a sorority, you are teaching her how to love herself, and see the value in even the darkest of life’s moments.

When you give a girl a sorority, you are giving her not only lifelong friends, but sisters whom she will always connect with.

When you give a girl a sorority, you are giving her a home.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
