I can’t log onto the Odyssey without seeing girls attacking other girls for something that they did. There was a girl who bashed other women for wearing leggings and tee shirts to class. There was another girl who was annoyed that college women dated high school sweethearts. It’s not only annoying to imagine the self-righteous woman typing hate and thinking that the masses would agree with her, but it's disgusting as well.
I have a radical idea, one that may be unpreceded. Maybe, just maybe girls should stop attacking other girls.
Crazy, right?
I’m a firm believer in girl power. I think that girls should be treated equally to men. Period. I don't think that this belief should contend. Men and women are equal. There's no superior and no inferior.
I think it’s ridiculous that anyone would refuse a friendship with someone because of their gender. I don't think people should dress a certain way because of their sex, and I don't believe that anyone should listen to anyone's expectations of what femininity should be.There is a "Mean Girls" quote that strikes a chord with me. "You all have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It just makes it okay for guys to call you sluts and whores." This quote is versatile. If you call other girls catty, you give other people the right to stereotype the whole gender as catty. If you demonize the whole gender, then you give people the right to do the same.
We gotta stick together, ladies.
I'm not asking for everyone to get along and for every woman to braid each other's hair. That's a type of paradise that I long for, but it's physically impossible. Women will dislike each other. That's just how the world works.
For example, I hate when girls whine. It sets my teeth on edge and makes my pulse race. Yet I will never write an article telling girls to stop whining. I won't tell a girl to her face to stop whining. Instead, I'll live my life keeping my opinion to myself and refuse to whine.
This is the way that it should be. Girls simply must stop telling girls what to do. It's not only annoying but damaging as well. Be the change you want to see, ladies.
