Often times girls wait for guys to contact us first, ask us out or make the first move. Gender norms are so embedded in us that we think it’s the guy’s responsibility to initiate things. It’s not the 1950’s anymore. We want equality and female empowerment, but societal practices haven’t caught up to the times. We have just as much of a responsibility and right to ask a guy out.
We should take the initiative sometime and let guys know we’re interested first. Us females need to step outside our comfort zones.
Guys get nervous too and fear rejection just like we do. We fear being turned down and having our pride crushed, but there’s no reward without risk.
A guy may be shy or intimidated by the girl he likes. Making the first move not only breaks the ice but lets him know you’re interested. Showing interest first may give him the confidence to ask you out.
Asking a guy out also shows him you’re confident and everyone loves a confident person.
It feels AMAZING when someone you’re interested in shows interests in you. Shouldn’t guys get the opportunity to feel special too?
The point is if you like a guy don’t be scared to show it. Don’t check your phone 10x a day waiting for him to text or call you. Contact him first!
Be the strong, independent girl and shoot your shot.
Worst case scenario – you get turned down. Rejection and failure help you grow and give you confidence for the next time.
