It's mid-February, we're all in Valentine's mode. Whether you and your partner had an extravagant outing or you spent your Valentine's binging New Girl and eating your bodyweight in Halo Top, self love is in all of that.
It's very easy for people who are single to dwell on the feeling of loneliness around this time of year or for couples to become completely immersed in making their partner happy. The most important thing in both of those situations is to make sure that self love is in there as much as that Valentine's Day cheesy love (or lack thereof).
So often I have had friends (and I'm guilty of it too) who immerse themselves so much in a relationship that they forget who they are, or become so down on themselves for being single that they almost just give up. Doing either one of those things is so unfair to who we really are.
Regardless of our relationship status, our own happiness should always come first. You may think that sounds selfish, but when it all comes down to it, you are all you really have. That's not meant to be depressing either, just don't ever deprive yourself of happiness.
Eat that cupcake. Take a warm bath. Binge watch your show. Jam in your car. Get your nails done. Treat. Yo. Self.
All of these acts of self love are so important and the only point of them is to make us feel good. Sounds pretty great, right? So go ahead, start loving yourself. God made us all in His image, and for us to ever doubt or not love that is crazy.
