In today’s society, it is so important that girls have strong female role models. In the media, it does not matter how successful a woman is, as she is judged on what she looks like and if she is dating anyone.

Recently, famous women have been drawing attention to the misrepresentation of celebrities such as Amy Schumer clarifying that she is not a plus-size, or Jennifer Aniston saying that she is not pregnant, tabloids just draw attention to her eating habits and that she may have put on some weight.

It is not healthy for young girls to be told they have to be a certain size and look a certain way. Thankfully, today more strong female role models are available for women.

Actresses such as Jennifer Lawrence, Anna Kendrick and Amy Schumer have been inspirational. These young women are funny, charismatic and not afraid to be themselves. No matter how many tabloids draw attention to their flaws, they remain confident. They all send a message that girls should be happy with who they are.

The music industry has provided several role models, such as Taylor Swift, who has taught women how to get over a guy and shake off our problems, Gwen Stefani who has sent a message to have fun, be happy and stay cool, and Ingrid Michelson who reminds us to stay calm and confident, and many more.

Taylor Swift’s famous “squad” has also been getting a lot of attention in the media, but these strong, independent women stay true to who they are. Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have made it well known that when they get together with their girl friends they just have fun. It does not matter what they weigh or who they are dating. They can inspire young girls to have a strong group of friends to rely on.

There are also more movies that have come out in the last few decades to inspire females. When I was young I had "Mulan," Girls today, of course, have Elsa and Anna. But it does not stop at Disney. Movies such as "How to be Single" may not be the most appropriate option, but can still send a message to young women that they can be independent and happy without a man.

The new "Ghostbusters" movie, starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon will provide new role models for young women. A depiction of smart, strong women is something that society desperately needs. This film can show young girls that a man does not have to save the day. Life is not a fairytale, a woman does not need a man to save her.

It is so important that girls have powerful women to look up to. Growing up a girl is emotional and stressful. When I was younger I looked up to Hilary Duff (let’s be honest, I still do). Her role as quirky, clumsy, fun Lizzie McGuire taught me not to obsess over every little embarrassing moment and to have fun growing up. Now, as an adult I look to Zooey Deschanel and Mindy Kaling. These strong, quirky actresses inspire me to be myself and to not care about my weight or my relationship status, which is something most women need to be reminded of.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
