Ladies. Sure having other girls as friends is great, but having a guy or guys as friends is freaking amazing! I am a firm believer that every girl should have at least one guy friend. If you are someone like me, then you find yourself having more friends who are boys rather than girls - which trust me is perfectly fine! If you are lucky enough to have a guy as your best friend, then you know as well as I that:

1. They tell you how it is

They don't sugar coat anything! They will tell you how it is and they are not afraid to call you out when you need to get your act together.

2. They are protective

Whether you just started dating someone and they're giving your new boo a hard time, or you guys are just out hanging out and someone looks at you wrong, they will be there to protect you because they have your back 24/7.

3. They actually can give really good dating advice

The new guy on their hockey team is cute, right? They can give you the inside scoop on where he is from and tell you all of his likes and dislikes. Besides, what is better on getting a guys opinion from one of the dudes you trust the most?

4. There is no drama

Drama? What drama? There's no need to worry whether your friends are going to steal your new S.O. and borrow clothes! No need to worry if you'll get your cute new top back because trust me, they won't want to borrow it!

5. There’s no need to hide your appetite

No need to worry about being judged for eating half a pizza and shoving handfuls of chips down your throat because odds are they will join you or try and out-eat you.

6. You can beat them at their own game

They might be champs at basketball, but you know how to jump right in with them and show ‘em how it's done.

7. They’re champs at cheering you up

Have a rough day at school or work? Going through a breakup? Their silliness and corny jokes can always put a smile on your face.

8. Looks are not important

There's no need to put in a lot of effort into your appearance. They don't care what you look like, so why not join them in wearing a hoodie and sweatpants?

9. They become your Brothers

If you’ve been friends with them for a few years, there's no doubt that they become like family - they are basically your brothers.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Waitlisted for a College Class? Here's What to Do!

Dealing with the inevitable realities of college life.

college students waiting in a long line in the hallway

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
