Just when you think that maybe you could actually pull it off, doubt and fear sink in, causing you to turn away from the thought of cutting off your hair. It happens to every single girl thinking about making the big chop. Back when I was contemplating it, I was scared to even ask people's opinions out of fear they would hardcore judge me. It seems silly now, but it's a big change for someone who's never had hair that short since they were a baby.
So if you're reading this article then you're probably thinking about going for the big chop. I'll go ahead and say this: you should. If you are looking for a sign, this is it. I won't lie, you may hate it. I like my hair, but I am in the process of growing it out simply because I miss having long hair. You may be sitting there thinking, "What the heck? Why is this person discouraging and freaking me out?" But I'm not. You should definitely go for it. Actually, I believe every single girl should do it once in their life.
A lot of girls use their hair to sorta "hide" their faces. It sounds weird, but you may even be doing that without realizing it. I know I used to. If I felt like I looked crappy that day, then hey at least I could use my hair to distract the eyes. But with a pixie cut, you can't do that. Your face is out in the open. Your shoulders and neck are constantly exposed. And you also lose your sense of femininity.
Hear this: those are all of the reasons why you should do it. It forces you to truly be comfortable with yourself. I've learned to get used to how I look without all of my hair, and now I'm totally comfortable with it. I used to be scared of wearing "bum" clothes and no makeup out in public for fear that people would think I'm a boy or something like that. Now, that all seems ridiculous. It's just hair. It doesn't define your very existence. Who cares if someone judges?
You see, hair should never be something that people hide behind. It's not a shield. It's just there to keep your scalp warm. So you should chop it off and feel that sense of freedom. Having a pixie cut will make you realize that you are beautiful no matter what. Long hair, colorful hair, no hair, short hair, it just doesn't matter. Yes, there's a chance you may not like the way it looks on you. But that's a risk with any haircut. Hair grows back, so don't worry too much. There's a much bigger chance that you'll love the cute, new style along with the sense of empowerment. And trust me, there are actually a lot of ways to style a pixie.
