Ladies, we have now acknowledged our least favorite "F" word. The sole word that makes us roll our eyes, grimace, and throw our hands up in despair all at the same time... Fortnite.
For those who have been living under a rock since July, Fortnite is the newest video game sensation that has swept over the nation (and our boyfriends/fiances/husbands). It's not all bad, though. There are great aspects to the game such as seeing that pure joy when your favorite person takes home a solo win or even when a team mission goes great. However, there seems to be an unsaid bond between a lot of girls everywhere about the trials of Fortnite, so instead of huffing and puffing when we don't hear from our baes for 45+ minutes, let's take this chance to try to understand the method behind their (frustrating) madness.
What is Fortnite?
Fortnite is a competitive video game between 100 players. There are shootouts, fort constructions, all types of combat, and weapons galore. Not your typical Call of Duty...
How do you play Fortnite?
PC, PS4, Xbox One, and now coming soon to mobile devices.
What is a Solo Win?
A solo win (which is extremely coveted and hard to achieve) is when a player goes in by themselves and wins over the other 99 players. *This win will come with lots of yelling*
What is Slurp Juice?
Slurp Juice grants 25 shield and 25 health. This feature is extremely sought after and coveted.
What are the different weapons?
Ranged weapons and others. Ranged weapons can include assault rifles, shotguns, pistols, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers. Each weapon is labeled differently based on rarity: Common is gray, Uncommon is green, Rare is blue, Epic is purple, and Legendary is gold.
There are different missions?
Yes! There are daily challenges that consist of things like outliving opponents, getting sniper kills, and looting chests. For those that purchase the battle pass for $10 (great birthday/xmas gift), they get extra missions and are rewarded with things like new outfits (or "skins" as my boyfriend likes to call it).
Who are the enemies?
There are two enemies: The Storm (the most evil of them all) and the other 99 people the player is fighting.
Why does my boyfriend disappear for hours on end when playing Fortnite?
Think of it this way... The same way we might disappear while doing our makeup or getting ready for something. He enjoys it, so let him have a little time to unwind (easier said than done).
How can I relate to him more?
Try picking up a controller and see what the big fuss is about! Ladies, we can get hooked on COD Zombies and Assassins Creed, right? Why not Fortnite, too?
I'm not saying to throw away any hope of a date night in attempt to learn more about Fortnite. All I'm saying is, here are some ways that your boyfriend might LOVE Fortnite and the least you could do is give is a whirl at learning a little more about it.
