To the girl wanting to get fit for summer,
I know there are only a few weeks left until the official start of summer, and you are trying to get into the best shape of your life. You just bought a gym membership, and you did your grocery shopping at Whole Foods. You found a carb-free, fat-free, "clean" recipe on Pinterest for dinner tonight.
You have dreams that all this clean eating and working out will get you a flat stomach and big booty.
Newsflash: you are setting yourself up for failure.
Maybe you've told everyone you know about your new diet. You cut out bread and cheese, and you feel like you're better than everyone else because you are being "healthy."
Newsflash #2: THIS ISN'T HEALTHY!
And you telling me about your bullsh*t diet honestly makes me want to slap you in the face.
I don't care that you are going "paleo" or "Whole30" or "vegan" or that you ran 7 miles this morning.
Food and exercise are things to be enjoyed. If you are not allowing yourself to eat a doughnut, then you need to reevaluate.
Don't tell me how much sugar is in something because I simply don't care.
I'm still going to eat a doughnut (or two!) because I know how much joy it can bring.
Instead of talking about your new diet, let's talk about our plans for summer vacation or gossip about our latest crush.
There is more to life than the foods you eat or how many miles you run each day.
You are beautiful just the way you are, and you don't need to go on some crazy diet to meet an impossible standard you have set for yourself.
From,
A girl who's tired of hearing about your newest diet, and wants you to see yourself the way Jesus sees you.
