To the girl who hates high school,

I know, it's hard to like something that you absolutely dread and try to escape from. But at the end of the day I'm here to tell you that every single year is worth it. The heavy textbooks, the same locker that fits maybe two or three books, and the early mornings, all come into play. Those days that you have to stay after school just to grasp the material of quadratic equations can secure you a spot at your college of choice. This is just one aspect of your life in high school and some factors outweigh others.

Finding good friends and staying that way all four years is difficult and there's absolutely no promises that those friendships will work out. But at the end of the day, those people will shape you into who you're going to be in the future. I can't even begin to count the amount of times that I doubted my friendships in high school and tried to save them even though they were toxic. When the people closest to you doubt your actions and intimidate you, always remember that you can handle any situation that comes your way. Situations similar to that make you an even stronger version of yourself. Those memories and hard times made me stronger and more aware of my surroundings which I will forever be thankful for.

This is the time that you're going to start to learn about who you are and what you deserve in life. Sure, there are going to be mishaps and nothing is going to be perfect which defines what life is.The classes are hard and I know that it's hard to indicate if any of the material you learn is going to help you further on in life. Honestly most of it isn't going to be crucial for you to know but it will help you understand how to commit to your academics and still somewhat maintain a social life. There are definitely days that you couldn't hate high school more and you try to leave early and slack on work. But I'm here to tell you that everything that you're doing now is going to impact your future no matter how big or small it is. You will grow from your mistakes and rise above the occasion when life hits you the hardest.

These four years are preparing you for the next four more which will probably be the best ones of your life. High school isn't the best, but you're so close to such a promising future so hold on tight. College is such a reward and it's the perfect time to find yourself as well as somewhat peek into your future. You're going to embark on the craziest journey of your life when high school is over so hang in there, you'll do great things.

Sincerely,

The girl that hated high school

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
