Waking up each morning, to-do list in hand and nothing but determination in her mind the girl that thinks she can do it all has a simple way of looking at things; either she gets everything done and feels like she is on top of the world, or she only gets a few things done and feels as though the sky is falling. If this girl sounds anything like you, I just have one piece of advice. Ditch this mindset as quick as you can!

Having goals is one thing but wanting to get an outrageous number of tasks done each day is another. Not like school is enough with all the essays, projects, speeches, and study guides, but the girl who thinks she can do it all adds on extracurriculars, a job, clubs, family, friends, and let's not forget wanting to hit the gym every now and then.

Doing it all is a toxic trait that seems to follow someone around from each grade, starting young and being the classic kindergarten overachiever. Getting nothing but gold stars and praise from teachers, parents, sparks something in a child, causing them to crave this feeling. But what started as a small spark turned into a huge fire, eventually ending up with that person in college juggling an impossible schedule and making their life miserable. To the girl who thinks she can do it all, you can't and that's the only way it should be.

To transform from the academically impossible standards to your classic college girl you just need to start from the bottom. Start by saying no. No, you don't need to join the club your friend has been raving about. No, you don't need to pick up that extra shift or take that extra class just because it looks good on a resume. What you need to do is have balance. Three easy tips that help find balance in a hectic life are:

1. Take some time to collect your thoughts

This can be starting your day with writing in a journal or listing everything you need to do in your planner. Getting everything out in the open will put you at ease and help unbottle all the stress your holding.

2. Let your mind wander

Instagram

This is one of the hardest things to do. Letting yourself be bored with all the easy tech around us every second is a struggle. Walking to class with your phone in your bag, not listening to music or the latest podcast will give your mind and your attention span a much, needed break.

3. Make your bed in the morning

This is such a simple thing, tucking your sheets in and spreading the throw blanket perfectly, brings a simple peace to your mind. Even if you don't finish everything that you planned to do today at least you can come to a well-made bed.

So, to the girl who thinks she can do it all, it's okay to not do everything, you're doing great. In the end you can only do as much as you can, even if that is just making your bed in the morning, writing down your thoughts and spending 15 minutes in silence. That in itself is doing it all.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
