For The Girls Like Me With Big Dreams
Casey Whoolery-Pratt

As a girl with big dreams, life becomes a little harder. But that doesn’t make a difference or care in the world because I dream too big to see the hardships as an issue. So here's to the girls, just like me, and our every day struggles of being a badass.

We strive every day to be better than before, and once in a blue moon, life gets the best of us and makes us feel we can’t. And to a dreamer like me, those are the days I dig out my boxing gloves. Pushing ourselves is not occasional occurrence, but a habit that we don’t even know we are doing until we wake up feeling exhausted and like two tons of bricks are weighing us from getting up. But surprise, surprise, we still get up, take the day on, and take names when we do.

The word "dreamer" and the word "settle" don’t belong in the same sentence, and never will. We don’t settle for less than what we think we deserve. And if you are a dreamer, or know one, you know our self worth is always more than diamonds, gold, and vintage Chanel put together. So words to the wise, don’t ever ask us to settle because we pack a big punch.

Relationships come harder to us than most. Whether that be friends, significant others, or family. We only keep the people we know are going to keep up with our fast paced and intense lifestyle, and that see our worth as much as we see our own, especially in relationships with our significant others. We have a harder time finding love because it is hard to find someone who will hang the moon for us like we will for them. But once we do, we hang on to them and never let them go.

Don’t tell a dreamer no, or that we can’t because whether we actually want to do it or not, we are going to do it to prove a point. And when we do, we do it to the fullest of our ability because there is no such thing as "half-assed” in our vocabulary. I have no fear in proving people wrong. Ever. And I guarantee I am not the only one that feels the same way.

We work for the majority of what we have. We take pride in our accomplishments, but also know that there is no cap or ceiling to our success. We never stop at our greatest achievements and continually strive to go farther than the last.

We only ask for help when we know it is necessary or important. Only the most wise and successful know that help is important sometimes. You may be able to do it on your own, but to do it right and to exceed expectation, asking for help can get you there.

Lastly, we do get scared of the future or failing, even if we don’t let you see. However, we never let the fear of failing keep us from playing the game. We know failing is most important for success, that is why we take more L’s than W’s. And that is why we never quit striving even if we do take a loss, because we know the win is one step closer now.

I know I don’t have to give any advice to these individuals because they know exactly where they are going, and how they are getting there. So all I am going to say is keep on keeping on, ladies.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
