From The Girl Who Can’t Believe Summer Is Practically Over

It feels like finals were just wrapping up and we were packing up our dorm rooms, and yet, here we are almost ready to do it all over again with a new school year.

I came home this summer thinking the first half would be a relaxing and knowing the second half might be more stressful as I would be working at Sunrise Day Camp- Long Island, a camp for children with cancer and their siblings. Leaving Columbus, never did I think I would be feeling the way I do right now.

The summer after freshman year is both exciting and confusing. On one hand, you're excited to go home after finals, eat your long-awaited favorite foods, and see your friends and family. When I got home to Long Island, though, all I did was think about how much I wanted to be back in Ohio.

Now, as my mom begins to ask me about what I left in storage and what I need to pack, and tries to make plans for going back to school, I can't help but feel conflicted. In my heart, Long Island will always be home, but in some, and I should say most, ways Ohio now holds a bigger piece of my heart.

I am ready to go back and move in, get excited for Game Days (dressed in Scarlet and Grey, of course), get used to my new schedule, see my friends, and do what college kids do.

Even though I'm sad to leave my childhood home, my parents, and all the people I care about, I know that leaving for school means going home to my new friends; these are friends that I pretty much consider family at this point now anyway.

So thank you Long Island, and Ohio, for giving me a home that makes saying goodbye so hard. Well, not goodbye, but see ya later!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
