If you're in college, you know that every penny counts, whether it's towards rent, utilities, car and insurance payments, tuition, or just putting food on the table. It's definitely a living, and it's not necessarily a simple one.

We shouldn't let our (sometimes incredibly low) budget interfere with our holiday cheer and the gift of giving. Whether you're looking to give a gift to your friends, family, or secret Santa/white elephant, here are some cost-efficient and enjoyable gifts.

1. Pop Sockets.

Pop Sockets

Pop Sockets are a mount that you can attach to the back of your phone to obtain a better grip on it. It can also be used to prop your phone up while you're on FaceTime or watching YouTube or Netflix. Pop Sockets are inexpensive and have plenty of designs that your gift recipient is bound to like! They are also incredibly cute and practical. If you want to be *~extra~*, you can order a custom-made Pop Socket with whatever design or photo your heart desires.

2. Cozy socks.

Thought Catalog

You can never go wrong with socks. They will always be practical, not to mention comfy and cozy. You can purchase cheap ones for under $5 at Old Navy, Target Dollar Spot, Dollar Tree, and Walmart. Although I will say that Old Navy killed it with their holiday designs this year. You can also opt to get a 12-day advent calendar, which has twelve different pairs of socks - designs range from favorites like Harry Potter, Star Wars, or just a classic holiday set.

3. Chocolate bark.

Chocolate bark is the perfect option for all foodies! You might want to put in the extra work and make it yourself to avoid conflicts with allergies. You can even make it with your loved ones to make it a fun bonding experience. There are also so many variations of chocolate bark - white chocolate peppermint, cookies and cream, and even fruit-based bark, you name it!

4. Scented candles.

Candles are in the same league as socks, meaning you can never go wrong with a good candle. While we all love the classic holiday scents from Bath & Body Works, their 3-wick candles retail for $24, which can get a bit pricey if you're buying multiple gifts for your loved ones. You can wait till they go on sale, or opt for cheaper alternatives at retailers like Ross and TJ Maxx! Their candles range from $5–$13, which is a significantly lower price point than B&BW and Yankee Candle. Plus, you can get 4 candles at Ross for the price of one at B&BW. If you're lucky, you can even find signature Yankee Candle scents at these retailers!

Good luck gift shopping, and happy holidays! We hope your loved ones enjoy their gifts and time spent with you!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
