The Craziness Of Finals Week, As Told By 'New Girl'

The end of the semester is rapidly approaching and you have finals next week. If you're anything like me, binge-watching Netflix becomes the most tempting when I want to procrastinate all the finals I have to study for. I've watched every season of New Girl at least two times and it ALWAYS makes me laugh. By the time you're done reading this article, Schmidt will have put at least fives dollars in the douchebag jar and screamed "ALL DAY" at least twice. Here are some extremely relatable "New Girl" GIFS to get you through finals week.

1. When it hasn't hit you yet

When the week is just getting started, your planner is mapped out, and you're feeling ready to conquer anything. What could go wrong, right?

2. Reading through your exam study guides and not recognizing any of the material

We've all been there. That moment when you realize that nothing covered in lecture is going to be on the exam and you need to read the entire textbook in 48 hours.

3. Mood towards anyone having fun while you're studying for the next week

Some of us have four finals and others get lucky and just have one. You go to the terrace for a ~quick study break~ and see people drinking pitchers of beer and enjoying ice cream from the Daily Scoop. How ridiculous! There will always be people having fun while you're studying and Schmidt feels you with the FOMO.

4. 24 hours before your first exam

When you've only been studying for a few hours but you've hit a peak and feel like you could take the test NOW or "ALL DAY" as Schmidt says. Don't hold onto this though, it won't last.

5. 2 hours before your first exam

Panic mode has set in. Your first exam is in two hours. Your brain cannot take in any more information. It's not quite the same feeling as being stuck twirling two sticks of fire, but pretty close.

6. Walking out of your first exam, not ready to take the second

The first exam is somehow always the worst. You probably couldn't have studied any more than you did and there's nothing you can do except move on. It can only get better from here and you can't give up now (like actually you can't).

7. When your best friend asks how you're doing

You've been studying the same material for 4 days straight and your best friend asks how you're doing so you hold back the tears and smile through the pain. You already had a meltdown on the phone with your mom this morning, and you're trying to make it through the day. So close, yet so far from the finish line.

8. When your third exam sneaks up on you

You made it through your first two exams, congrats! Oh, wait? You have another one tonight? Yikes. CeCe and every other forgetful college student feels for you during these tough times.

9. Realizing you haven't left the library in over 12 hours

Pulling an all-nighter at the library is never a good idea, but we've all been there. Right around 3am, your brain definitely starts to feel like a little bit like Jess being tossed around in the back of a truck. Dazed, confused, unsure if you can make it any longer without taking a power nap on the floor.

10. Walking out of your last exam like

When you walk up to hand in your exam and think of all the awful things you could say to your professor but you just smile and wave knowing you tore them apart in their course evaluation survey. We've all had awful professors and we've all done this, there's really no better feeling after an impossible exam.

11. Before you get your final grades

At this point, it doesn't even matter how you did on your finals because you are finally DONE. Until the final grades come out, you're just so happy to be finished. Celebrate, head to the terrace, maybe jump in the lake.

12. That feeling of finally being done

You made it! Do a lil' dance. Finals week is over and everyone is done with exams. Summer is on the horizon and life is GOOD. Now if you haven't already, go binge-watch every episode of "New Girl." You won't regret it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
