As a college student, I have had my fair share of sleepless nights, whether that is from just not being able to sleep or from spending countless hours studying for exams and completing homework. In college, there is never enough time to do anything, even if you are ahead of the game/ on top of things because it is an endless cycle and you never feel ready for your insanely hard exams. BUT sleep is SO important, and we need to treat sleep like it is, unlike how most of us have been doing.
1. Weight Loss

When you do not get enough sleep, we tend to eat more than we have to since we need to keep fueling our body and making up for a loss of sleep. If you are trying to maintain your weight or lose some, make sure you get enough sleep!
2. Better Grades

Getting enough sleep every night means doing better in school! I know, sounds weird, but getting 6-8 hours of sleep means your concentration and focus levels skyrocket. So, staying a couple of hours up to finish studying for a midterm is going to hurt you more than you think. Without sleep, we can not 'absorb' or retain the information we are learning, nor can we stay focused or concentrated during our exams or classes.
3. Poor Sleep Patterns Increase Mental Health Problems

Depression can develop if one does not get enough sleep each night; therefore, if you get enough sleep it proves that you can be a happier and a more positive person and who does not want that!!
4. Immune System is Improved with Sleep

Think about it, when we are sick we always tend to 'sleep it off'. Why not make sure your immune system is at its peak all time- it is easier than you think--you just need good hours of sleep every night.
5. You Have More Energy

When we sleep, our body regenerates which allows us to function every day. We have all dreaded the alarm going off and feeling pretty groggy when it does. That is your body telling you, you need sleep! However, if you get enough sleep every night than this feeling won't happen since your body has its natural boost energy. Rest up and accomplish so much.
