Getting The Message
Relay For Life

As I grabbed my $50 gas card from my cash box today I knocked over The 2008 Hope Award that was presented to me by The American Cancer Society South Palm Beach Unit in recognition for my work with The American Cancer Society Relay For Life. It feel to the ground and broke into several pieces. As I picked up the pieces and put them in the garbage I realized that this was a message that when something is broken and you can not repair it you let it go and appreciate what that symbol represented keeping the memories so you can build on the journey. In getting the message it is important to make sure you are taking all things into consideration. In this case today it was telling me to to leave the past behind and to pick up the pieces and remove those pieces that no longer serve me.

In understanding the messages that are coming at us at a rapid pace we are able to remove blockages that are stopping us from moving forward in a positive direction of our dreams. In detaching and removing people, places, and things that no longer serve us we have the opportunity to face everything and rise. One great way to get the message is to become more aware and awake of what is happening in the present moment. When you begin to eliminate the pieces of life that no longer serves you the removal frees you to remember the past so you can plan for the future while living in the present. The key is to remember that the energy you bring to the day determines the outcome of the day. It is said that our attitude determines our altitude. This holds true as I could have become upset and mad about my HOPE Award Breaking and having to discard it but instead I just decided to pick up pieces and remembered what it represented and how it is something I can draw on to move me forward in my quest to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. As I placed the pieces of The HOPE Award into the garbage I realized that I was only throwing away the representation of an accomplishment and that I would always have the memory of the journey that allowed me to make a positive impact on the lives of those touched by cancer. After a while I realized that this was GOD's way of telling me to make room as something else that I would always have that memory but it was time to make new memories.

It is important to be open to receive the message and then to take action on the message and move forward by planning your work, working your plan, and making adjustments along the way. I remember driving by The Lauderhill Sportsplex one Saturday and something told me to turn in and go up to the press box as there was a Pop Warner Football Game happening. I did that and was told to see the V.P. of the league and I did and he allowed me to announce the games and invited me back to do the Homecoming games as a result I was hired to do The Sean Taylor Classic and other Pop Warner Events which led me to be hired by Cardinal Gibbons High School to be their announcer for the 2017 football season. The key is to heed the messages that are being given and to take action. Remember when you seek opportunities and act upon messages you will find what you are seeking. The best thing you can do is sit back and process the messages that are being sent your way and then take action to put the message into action.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
