It's the end of spring semester. You have five final exams, three projects, four philanthropy events, meetings, and summer jobs to finalize. You feel like you should be having coffee injected through an IV and strongly consider having a glass of wine before your night class because you JUST CAN'T DO IT ANYMORE. But, I've found that there are a few ways to power through this tough phase while feeling refreshed more than ever.
Water
I know it sounds basic to say to drink more H2O, but I'm telling you it feels amazing. A glass of lemon water first thing in the morning to wake up your system, sipping from a cute water bottle during lectures, and a glass before bed will make you feel more refreshed and revived through out the day. Also, your skin and waistline will thank you later.
Music
Nothing puts some pep in your step like a fresh new playlist to listen to while walking to class. Also, Spotify offers an awesome student discount so you can listen to all of your favorite songs whenever you want. Blaring music after a two hour class is the perfect way to unwind, and the perfect playlist will result in thank you notes instead of noise complaints from your RA, I promise.
Exercise
Another basic instruction, but taking time out of your day to focus on pushing yourself physically instead of mentally does wonders. You relieve stress along with working on a killer bod for bikini season, which is a win-win. Like the great Elle Woods once said, "Exercise gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't fly off the handle by the end of the semester." Or something like that.
Sleep
Last semester I was a huge fan of watching Netflix for three hours until realizing it was two in the morning, which then led me to decide that finishing a season is more important than sleep. But, once I started putting away my screens and actually resting, I realized I felt a lot happier during the day and got much more done. Also, waking up early is a lot simpler which results in more productivity.
Outlets
It's hard to believe, but there are other things to do in college other than party and binge-watch your favorite shows. Whether it's walking to go get ice cream with your friends or reading a book in the courtyard, it feels good to designate some time into things that you like to do, instead of the things you feel you have to do.
In short, getting the most out of your spring semester is all revolved around focusing on what is best for you. It's always important to listen to your body during stressful times, and by doing so you will feel more at peace and healthier than ever.
