Although the weather may say different, fall is right around the corner, which means the holidays are closer than we think. First up on that list is Halloween. Besides Christmas, Halloween is my favorite holiday just because of all the decorations and events that follow it. There can still be grinches for Halloween, but we can easily turn that frown upside down with a little holiday spirit. There are three things that I know for a fact that can get you and the holidays off to a good start.
Decorating your home

Putting decorations up around the house is the easiest way to get into the holiday spirit. Walking into a house that gives off the smell of pumpkin spice instantly puts me in a better mood. Candles aren't the only thing you can do to decorate your house. Put little knick-knacks up on the mantle or on the kitchen table to spruce the place up a bit. It can be as easy as getting spider webs and putting it around your lamps and chairs.
Carving pumpkins

I know it sounds cliche, but carving pumpkins is another great way to get yourself in the holiday spirit. Get a couple of pumpkins, gather up some family and friends, and start carving. This tip can also be an add on to the decorations around the house. Or, if you are the type of person who just decorates for fall, carving pumpkins can be the way you add a little spookiness to the place.
Making pumpkin pie and pumpkin seeds

I've only met a few people in my life who haven't enjoyed a slice of pumpkin pie, which is easily the best kind of pie. It's simply the easiest type of pie to cook, which makes it that much better for the holiday. I know for me, walking into a kitchen that smells like pumpkin pie instantly puts me in a better mood.
Looking back at tip #2, after carving your pumpkins, don't be so quick to throw away all that goop you took out of them because that goop is what you can use to make roasted pumpkin seeds. Just clean them off, throw some cinnamon sugar on them, put them in the oven, and you're all done!
