Every week Sunday comes around, and sometimes it arrives with a sense of missed opportunity. Sundays can be full of guilt because they are the marking of a new week and therefore a reminder of everything that was not completed during the previous one. So, the biggest question is how to get over the guilt that surrounds some Sundays.
The best way to get over Sunday guilt is to appreciate the things that you have been able to accomplish. Whether you have gone to the gym four days a week, ate a healthy meal most days, turned in that assignment before the due date, emailed the professor you were scared to approach or went out on the weekend with your friends even though you didn't want to leave your bed, it can be counted as an accomplishment. Doing small things (like daily chores) is just as important as big things (like turning in that huge essay), and recognizing small daily actions as accomplishments can help ease feelings of Sunday guilt.
Another way to stop the bad feeling that can come along with Sundays is to wake up early. Although waking up earlier sounds daunting (especially when all you want to do is sleep in), it can really help set a schedule and get you up and active. Waking up early allows you to be up with the sun and can make you more energetic throughout the day because you have more daylight.
Everyone has different ways to deal with Sunday guilt. Going for a long walk, working out, reading, watching TV, cleaning, finishing that last bit of homework or getting ahead on some work can all help make Sunday feel a little more productive.
While Sundays may be a little daunting as you look back on your weekly accomplishments, it should not be! Take Sundays to reflect on your hard work and how you are going into the next week.
