Christmastime is probably the most magical time of the year. Everyone comes home, and families get to spend time together. Presents are bought and wrapped, then placed under the tree. Christmas music plays everywhere you go.
Cut to the most magical day of the year: December 25th.
You wake up. Maybe you got a white Christmas and everything is covered in snow. Maybe you didn't, and the sunshine is slowly coming out to light up the world just the same. But this is no ordinary day! There is special food to be eaten and traditions to be made and followed. Many pictures will be taken today.
Everyone in their pajamas around the table, eating breakfast. Later more pajamas, but this time around the Christmas tree or getting toasty by the fireplace. Outfits change, and now everyone is dressed up in their holiday best. More pictures are taken as Christmas dinner is prepared. Flour is probably everywhere.
Maybe you can imagine it, maybe you can't. I think that everyone is probably imagining their own Christmases, some maybe of long ago. Maybe from when people didn't have iPhones and Facebook, able to post pictures as soon as they were taken.
A simpler time.
This Christmas, I challenge you to wait. Wait to post your special memories the day AFTER CHRISTMAS. Take the time to soak in all the special moments with your loved ones. Relax in a big comfy chair with a big cup of hot chocolate. Go play with all the kids, whether you're cousins or stepfamily or second cousins or even if it's too complicated to explain.
Facebook can wait. Instagram can wait. Twitter can wait. Snapchat can wait. All of your social medias can wait. Spend time with the people you have the chance to do real life with, in real time. You can scroll through what other people did for Christmas tomorrow, if that's what you're feeling.
