Now that I have a kitchen in my apartment, my school year is looking a lot brighter. I get to say goodbye to caf food and limited meal choices, and instead get to try out new recipes and have easier access to late-night snacks (a little cookie dough, anyone?) However, with great power (and counter space) comes great responsibility, and that means that I have to cook dinner for my roommates every once in a while.
When the idea of cooking for my friends at school first came up, I was a little nervous: I know I can cook well enough for myself and at home, where my access to a spice cabinet and a mixer make baking far easier, but at school? That was a whole different ball game. However, when it turned out that I was in charge of "ramily dinner" (punny, right?!) this week, I was only nervous up until I remembered that I had an ace up my sleeve in the form of delicious, decadent, and dangerously cheesy garlic bread.
College kids live on carbs, and this bread is sure to fit the bill. The recipe itself is simple: cut up a loaf of bread (preferably sourdough, though you can get creative if necessary), douse the bread in garlic and butter, then stuff the entire mess with enough cheese to put even a dairy farmer in shock. After you've done all the prep work all you have to do is place the bread in the oven and wait until it's ready to be consumed. I served my bread alongside pasta and salad, but I understand if you want to just eat the whole thing as your dinner...I don't blame you!
The full recipe for the bread can be found here, so go ahead and put your kitchen to work!
