Later this year one of the most anticipated Rematches will be going down on August 4th in Los Angles, California at UFC 227. Former-Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt will face the Current Champion TJ Dillashaw in an attempt to get his belt back. These two top contenders in the Bantamweight division have a rivalry that is infamous throughout the mix martial arts world.
The anticipation for the first bout between Cody and TJ in 2017 was like no other especially after it was scrapped and pushed back because of a back injury that Cody sustained. Everybody had their eyes locked on UFC 217 last November to see what would happen when both of them were in the cage. In fact, it was more than a memorable fight, it was a fight that had everybody talking after the after the bout was over, It also ended up being Fight Of The Year.
Bruce Buffer makes the introductions, the crowd is ecstatic and referee Dan Miragliotta asks the fighters in they are ready and the fight begins. Plenty of trash talk is taking place between these two and the first punch is thrown. It was a close first round as Cody cracked TJ, he falls and the round ends. After he got back to his feet TJ wobbled to his stool with the help of his corner and began to recollect himself.
Cody was very confident at this point of the fight and everybody can see it. The 2nd round begins and both fighters meet in the middle with the tension still being incredibly high. Both connect with some very well timed and placed shots as they trade. Then out of left field, TJ Dillashaw lands a head kick that sent Cody flying towards the cage. Cody scrambles to get up, he does successfully but nobody really could imagine what would happen next.
Both gentlemen are exchanging shots and this time TJ Dillashaw lands a hook that drops Cody Immediately. TJ does not allow the opportunity to pass by and he jumps on him, After a few brutal ground and pound shots referee Dan Miragliotta steps in and calls off the fight.
We have a New UFC Bantamweight Champion, TJ Dillashaw. Many speculated what was gonna be next for both fighters. TJ stated that he felt Cody did not deserve an immediate rematch he should have to work his way back to the belt-like TJ had too when he first lost his belt. Was Cody gonna step back and go back to the drawing board? Was TJ gonna try to make the super fight between him and Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson?
Well, the world received an announcement that sent chills up their spine. Gardbrandt Vs Dillashaw 2 for the Bantamweight Champion on August 4th which is expected be one of the Biggest fights of the year. Who will walk away the winner? Can Cody get his belt back? Or will TJ prove he is the real champion? We will all have to wait and see.
