There have been many great television shows throughout the many years. "The Office", "The Sopranos", and "The Simpsons" all have great arguments for why they are the best shows ever made. But there is one show that tops everything else. This show emotionally connects you with its cast in ways you never thought a TV show could. It’s storytelling changes how you watch television, and you’ll never want the series to end. Let me explain why "Game of Thrones" beats out any other series ever.
To begin, for the five people on earth that don’t know what "Game of Thrones" is, it’s a fantasy drama that depicts different powerful families playing the dangerous game to win the Iron Throne. Many people believe that they deserve to be the king of the seven kingdoms, and will go to great extents to try and reach that power. Reading that short description does this series no justice. It is so much more than a medieval battle. This show breaks the boundaries of drama and action and emotionally pulls you in like no other TV show could possibly do.
The characters in this show are so complex and so interesting, you feel like you could know them in real life.
They are absolutely amazing actors and actresses and do a great job at making you hate them, or love them, in the show. When a character on the show gets hurt or dies, you really feel the sadness overcome you. There are at least eight or nine episodes where I had to take a step back and hold in tears because the show did such a great job emotionally tying you to characters.
The character development is beyond what any show could possibly give you. The characters that manage to stay alive, change so drastically and interestingly, it’s fascinating. While it’s hard to get into details because I am not the type of writer that likes to spoil TV shows, some characters start out as shy, nonpowerful people. As the series progresses, these characters develop into people that you adore for their great power and intelligence.
The writers and directors of this series are honestly geniuses. Watching the show for the first time is amazing, but watching it a second time is even better. The writers and directors add in such subtle clues and easter eggs throughout the series and it’s brilliant.
The second time around honestly blows your mind. You hear things you never thought you’d understand, and you have a greater appreciation for the characters. The writers and directors do such a great job at giving you a story that will never bore you and will have you wanting to binge for days.
I’ve heard many people say, "Game of Thrones" looks like "Lord of The Rings" and I hate that dumb knight fighting crap. These people could not be more wrong. This show is so misunderstood by people on the outside because it looks like it’s all about fighting and nothing more. The drama in this show far exceeds the fighting. If you were to change the time zone of the series, it could be a modern soap opera with how many twists and turns the series gives you.
With only one season left in the series, all the "GOT" fans are holding their seats. I hate that we have to wait until 2019 to see the conclusion of this amazing piece of writing, but perfection isn’t made overnight. There are reports coming out that the cast members cried after reading the final script and that makes me feel a million emotions. I’m excited to see what happens but saddened to see my favorite characters end the series.
Each episode of "Game of Thrones" seems like a little movie. For one hour, you can lose yourself into great storytelling and directing and not have to worry about the outside world. I watched the seven seasons in about three weeks which is crazy because each episode is over an hour long. I couldn’t get enough of the series and neither will you. If you have yet to watch this series, please take my word for it and give it a try. It is truly amazing, and you won’t regret it. Cheers to 2019 so we can see how this all plays out.
