What Knight-Thon Means To Me
Knight-Thon

Coming to college I was a lost Freshman that had no idea what they wanted to experience for the next four years at the University of Central Florida, the second largest University in the nation. The only thing I was sure of was that I was going to participate in Knight-Thon. At the time I didn't even know what it consisted of, all I knew was that we dance and raise money for the kids. Well, thats basically it but there is more too it than just that.

As Knight-Thon quickly approached last year my excitement was like a little kid in a candy store but even greater. I was unsure as to what to expect from Knight-Thon during the 20 hours but I can tell you that it more than exceeded my expectations. The event was so incredible from the miracle stories down to the ping pong tables, I loved every second of it.

My experience with Knight-Thon can’t simply be described in one word, it wasn’t just amazing it was an experience that made my love for kids and the cause grow greater than I could have ever imagine. Each and every hour from beginning to end of the marathon, I danced my heart out when the Morale dance came on. Every time the miracle story song went on I made sure I was there to listen to what these families had to say. From the tears hearing the stories to the smile I had on my face from ear to ear when I saw the kids dancing around the event, Knight-Thon is an experience I hope everyone can have one day.

You may wonder as to what it was like standing for 20 hours and why anyone would ever want to elect themselves to do such a crazy thing. Well, I can tell you and it is simply this; We stand for the kids who can't. It is just that. Think about all the kids that wish they could be dancing for 20 hours or experiencing things each one of us get to experience throughout life each and every day. Due to their conditions it is physically impossible for them to do so, but with the help of the UCF community and the Children Miracle Network hospital we in total can change the lives of these kids.

Over the 20 hours of dancing the amount of miracles made is mind boggling and we as a community should be so proud of what we have done and continue to do.

I promise if you don't love Knight-Thon, listen to one miracle story and your entire thought process will take a turn for the better. We at the University of Central Florida stand for the one's who cant, we are For The Kids!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
