FSU Clubs Go Above & Beyond

7

Joining a club at FSU can be more beneficial than just going to meetings and paying dues. Ad Club and FPRA are amazing clubs that help benefit students in the pursuit of finding jobs and internships. FSU offers a plethora of clubs and the connections and friendships you make are so rewarding. But joining a club can also help you with your future. FPRA and Ad Club both take trips each semester to New York and Boston. From there, the itinerary is scheduled for the member to visit a few different agencies per day. This is great exposure for you to give them your resume or introduce yourself to a future employer. These trips provide amazing opportunities for your career, and it's not all work on these trips. In the time you are not meeting with agencies or have planned socials, you and your peers can go explore the city and have a night out on the town.

You may think you are too young to start considering jobs or internships, especially if you are a freshman or sophomore, but the truth is the more experience you get, the better! You may also think that there is no possible way that these agencies will hire you for a job or internship, but it happens – a lot!

The trips are so beneficial, but not everyone can afford to go or has the time to go. Don't worry because these clubs provide endless resources to help prep you via resume workshops, mock interviews, and much more. The connections and experience you gain by joining these clubs are so fulfilling that you will want to continue to be a member of these organizations while you are here at FSU because the outcome and rewards are forever.

According to Carson Zachar, a Kappa Alpha Theta at FSU, "The benefits of joining FPRA have been endless. Not only did I get to go to New York City with the club, but also I was fortunate enough to land an internship at Lippe Taylor because of it. The mentoring program really helped when I was applying to get into the Public Relations Program and I've stayed close with her throughout college. The amount of networking available is endless because FPRA is such a well known chapter that anyone is willing to help you."

I thought senioritis in high school was rough until I became a college senior about to go into the real world. I'm supposed to have everything figured out, right? I mean I went through four years of tough classes and serious self-searching (and crying). What I found overall was Senioritis sneaking up on me.

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
