We are living in the world today that is commonly affiliated with the "hookup generation." Many's primary focus comes down to when they can get laid or how fast one can "get in another's pants." People tend to forget the value of building a connection with someone else and actually getting close. Having a strong relationship with someone despite challenges have simply fallen by the wayside. Because of this, I decided to write my own poem on the matter entitled:
The Frustration Love Brings
Falling, crashing
Banging, clashing
Arguments, fighting
Yet love without asking
This is often what a relationship involves
People are so busy looking for the prince of perfection
They fail to see who's been there all along
Love isn't just waking up to someone and seeing a beautiful face
It's growing to know makeup fades
But you still love those eyes and smile anyway
It's not just the one who can fulfill your senses
But rather more, no matter how old you get,
The feeling you still have them
Because after all
What is love without structure?
If you can't picture a future
What's the point of being together?
Love is like a tower
It can't be built without a base
But with the way the world is headed
There's no wonder
There's no grace
How could something without condition
Suddenly become superstition?
