Winter break is almost over and once again, I have binged watched the entire Friends series.
I fell in love with the characters and their crazy (but wonderful) lives all over again. By the time the series was over I desperately wanted to know more of each characters lives and was upset to know that the ten year journey was really over.
But it wasn't.
After some research (again, not even sorry), I found out that NBC premiered Joey in September of 2004. The series follows Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) as he pursues his acting career in Los Angeles.
Joey was one of the most lovable characters in Friends. He was a kind man with a big heart and even though he was a little too foolish for his own good sometimes, his genuine character always made its way out of all that charm.
Joey wasn't perfect. He made plenty of mistakes throughout the series, but he always apologized when he knew he was wrong and made sacrifices for the comfort of others. He always treated his friends like they were family because family is the most important thing. It is what he told Phoebe's fiancé, Mike (Paul Rudd), when welcoming him into the family just before he married Phoebe.
Unfortunately, Joey found some pretty tough competition in American Idol, even though the new sitcom took over its parent show's time slot. Despite the success and hype around the show's leaked pilot, the rest of the series struggled with ratings throughout its one and a half season run. It was cancelled in May of 2006.
I haven't watched the series yet, but I will definitely do so soon. At the end of the day, we can always hope for a Friends reunion.
