College isn't easy, at all. In fact, it's not challenging because of the material or course load per say. It's difficult because of how little time there is in a day. You go to class all day and go to work. Then, you go home and sleep to do the same thing all over again. You see your friends as often as you can but it's hard when you have completely opposite schedules and go to different schools.
Now, let me explain to you how truly annoying this is. My best friend goes to John Jay. I go to Hunter. One is on West 59 street and one is on East 68 street. Two schools that aren't so far from each other but are so separated because of Central Park, which is huge. Walking from the east side to the west side is about a 20-minute walk. That is one hell of a walk but I've done it before and I'll do it again for her.
We met in middle school during our school's attempt over the summer to get us to know each other before we actually started the semester. We met because my really good friend at the time was friends with her. Once we met, it took us a few days to actually start talking to each other because we were both really shy. She gave me her cute Smurf pin that she used to wear on her book bag and our friendship has on the fast track since then.
To my best friend:
I absolutely love you, you are my best friend. You drive me insane but I guess that's what friends are for. I wish I saw you more but you and I have absolutely different schedules. We went from seeing each other every day and having all our classes together to only seeing each other once every two weeks or so. I wish we hung out more often but every time we do, I leave feeling like my head is a bit clearer. I love the memories we have together and I'm excited for the ones that are yet to come. I know you're doing amazing over at John Jay.
I keep thinking about the last few times we saw each other and I smile. When I slept over at your house and we watched "Trainwreck." I remember how I kept trying to watch the movie but all you wanted to do was talk to me. You're a talker, I'm a listener. I love that about us. Despite these facts, you're one of the only people that can get me to open up and talk non-stop for an hour and a half. I love that when I told you about my breakup, you met up with me the next day. I was in my favorite company and I left feeling so much better about everything that had happened. Your happiness is contagious and I love that about you. You have the most beautiful smile and you are such a beautiful person.
I can't wait to see what our future holds.
