Freshman year of high school is a confusing time in every somewhat teen's life. So just imagine your awkward years of high school portrayed again as you try to conform and fit in at college. I've put together some things that have changed from my freshman year of high school to my freshman year of college.
1. My Attitude
Some could potentially say that no, my attitude did not change for the better (mom). But personally, I think that I look at things in a whole new way now. In high school, I was so eager to jump on every bandwagon there is and no I think about what is important to me.
2. My Style
Being a freshman in high school, I tried wayyyy too hard. By trying way too hard, that means, full face of makeup (not done well), fancy outfit (everyday), and always trying my absolute most. Now, 3 days into college, I have put on makeup once and have been wearing a t-shirt and jeans all the time. Now, I'm not saying "looking nice is bad", you do you boo, however, I personally think my transformation is hilarious.
3. My Music Taste
Freshman year of high school I listened to the basics that everyone had in their back pockets, Mr. Brightside, Yeah, and Don't Trust a Hoe. Every middle school sock hop was bumping with these songs (the censored version of course)! Now going into college I listen to, 5 Seconds of Summer, Harry Styles, Twenty One Pilots, and not much else.
4. My Role Models
- At the beginning of high school, I didn't really know what role models were. The most I was ever told anything about them was in middle school health class. But now going into my freshman year of college my role models include Harry Styles, my late grandfather, and my mother. Harry Styles cares so much about ALL types of people. He is an advocate for so many organizations it's hard to keep them all straight. My Grandfather, Grampy, was a great role model for me and teaching me the true meaning of family love. He did all in his power to make sure his granddaughters had the time of their lives and supplied everything that was needed. And of course, my mother because she has been there for me since day one. She has helped me through my ups and downs and I am so grateful to have her by my side.
5. My Friends
Coming into high school I had about six friends, I left high school with about three. THAT IS NOT A BAD THING!!! Growing and changing has made me realize who is truly there for me and how much they support me. I will be keeping those friends who support me throughout college, and I am looking forward to making new lifelong friends at Ball State also!
6. My Hobbies
Going into high school I played sports and hung out with friends like everyday. Now going into college, I didn't really come out of my room at home and now I am branching out again!! I have already made some amazing friends and I am looking forward to making many more!
No matter what, you'll always have to experience a freshman year. Make as many memories as you can, and have the time of your life doing it!!
