Fourth of July Weekend Must-Have's

COVID should not stop us from celebrating our country and the changes we need to see within it!

Fourth of July Weekend Must-Have's

This is not our typical Fourth of July weekend, given that most beaches in Florida are closed and not many places are open. Most of us had to have a weekend in and make the most of the situation we are in. In doing so, there are some definite must have's for Fourth of July that I am not willing to simply give up.

1. Food.

One of my favorite things about the Fourth of July is the food that comes with it!! This is when you get the grill out and running for the first time in a while and make the classics. Burgers, hot dogs, fries!! This is a good time for everyone to work together Even from our quarantine celebration, my friends and I made sure to make some burgers for dinner. And you can not forget about the Fourth of July cookies for dessert either!

2. Drinks.

I think everyone can agree that we all could use a drink (or ten). It is all about the red, white and BOOZE on the fourth guys! A fourth inside does not mean that has to change. Check out Pinterest for different drink ideas and make something new! Take advantage of the time in and spend some of that time mixing some fun drinks! You never know, you might even discover your new favorite drink!

3. Red, White and Blue!

Of course, you can not forget to rep the red, white and blue! Do not let your cute fourth outfits we have all had planned for months go to waste. Wear it! Take cute pictures in it! With all the free time we have all had on our hands, might as well use the fourth as an excuse to dress up and get some pictures.

4. The sun.

Although the weather is constantly changing, the sun is the final touch to an awesome fourth. When the sun is out, the weather is beautiful! Perfect tanning weather! Even if is means laying out with your roommates outside or on your balcony, get some sun! You do not even realize how much some time in the sun relaxes you.

5. Some friends!

While looking out for/following restrictions due to COVID, we can still gather some friends together and enjoy each other's company this fourth. Getting together with three or four of your closest friends and making the most of a bad time for our country is exactly what I need. When so many things in this country are failing us, it is amazing to still have the people you love and that is something worth celebrating.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
