10 Reasons Why Our Four-Legged Friends Are So Much More Than A Pet

As winter break begins to wind down we will be leaving our family and friends to get back to the wonderful world of college. As I was reflecting back on how much I will miss spending time with everyone, there are 3 friends I will miss most of all: my dogs, Macy, Nickel, and Lilah. But before I have to say goodbye to my furry best-friends I wanted to share why our four-legged friends, are so much more than just a family pet.

1. They are your forever best-friend.

No matter how many times you feel like you have messed up, they love you anyways.

2. They are great to talk to.

I know I have moments where I just don't want to talk to anyone. Having your furry friend there while you talk out a situation or have them "listen" to you, is sometimes all you need.

3. They know when something is wrong.

Whether you are sick, sad, or just in an angsty mood they are always there to share a smile.

4. They are a great motivation for you to do your best.

Our dogs or cats already think we are the best people in the world. So work hard to prove them right!

5. They are believers in the "treat yo self" lifestyle.

Our furry friends deserve the best because they are the best! Remember to take time to "treat yo self" and your four-legged friend.

6. They see the best in everyone.

No matter if they have known you forever or 12 seconds, they are able to see the good in you and every new friend they make.

7. They are a protector.

From being home alone and hearing a strange noise in the house, or the squirrel in the backyard they are always ready to protect who they love.

8. They are always excited to see you.

From being gone two months at a time or just leaving for an hour when you return they are always excited to see you.

9. They keep you on your toes.

From walks, runs, trips to the park, and even getting a Puppuchhino. Life is always an adventure with them.

10. Not one is the same.

Just like people, no dog or cat is the same. Each four-legged friend has a unique and different personality. This makes your's and your dog or cats relationship extra special!

Even though we are in the final days of Christmas Break enjoy the moments you still have left with family, friends, and your four-legged pals.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
