Isn't complaining fun? I personally think it's pretty great. I'd say I've made some of my best friends over a good complaining session. Among the many things I have (and will continue to) complain about is how crowded the gym gets.
I know we all can relate to that feeling when you finally get yourself in the right mental state to go to the gym but then realize every single machine and treadmill is taken once you get there. It's devastating. All that motivation to get in a good workout and be productive is suddenly dampened by the fact that you have to wait for something to open up. Nobody wants that.
The most obvious solution to this problem is to expand the gym within the McGinley Center. Of course, this would takes months of construction and probably thousands and thousands of dollars. However let's look at the bigger picture here; as beautiful and picturesque Fordham's campus truly is, the McGinley Center is not only the single eyesore of the campus but also very inefficient in terms of using the space wisely.
The only way to really go about doing this is to either expand the whole fitness center to the space where the post office currently resides or move it to another space entirely. Another piece of common Fordham knowledge is that the post office needs a new system and a new spot (I'll spare the post office in this article but no worries my complaint on that front is coming soon). By expanding the gym into where the post office is and creating an alternate entrance to Dagger John's, the space within the McGinley Center will be used so much better.
With a rising student population at Fordham and the desire to continue raising those numbers, it is crucial that a common part of any modern college campus be accessible and up to date with the needs of the students. Expanding the gym will fulfill many needs and wants of the student body and help to reorganize the McGinley Center in a more useful way.
Not too harsh of a complaint, right? If you frequent the gym (I know I should more) you feel the pain of working out and getting sweaty too close to other people. Kinda gross. More complaints like this to come.
