I'm writing this article as much for me as I am for you, the reader.
As I approach the second semester of my junior year in college, the realities of adulthood and building a career are right around the corner. I've imagined this time of my life since I was young. Back then, I envisioned myself being decided on a career and fearlessly chasing my passion. However, that is not my situation.
Like many of you, I still don't know what career or passion to pursue. As college graduation looms on the horizon, I find myself more and more worried about my future. But at the same time, it's okay that I don't have it all figured yet. And it's okay if you don't either.
As college students, we are in an incredibly stressful and hectic period of our lives. We tend to feel pressured by our parents, or even ourselves, to reach certain levels of success. Then, when we inevitably struggle or feel as if we can't meet expectations, it can be easy to lose motivation. We just have to be able to pick ourselves back up when we fail and power forward.
I believe that the key for those of us still searching for our path is not to settle. Settling is equivalent to giving it up in my opinion; it means you have no fight left in you. I don't ever want to feel unsatisfied with my life or my career because I settled and gave up, and I don't want anyone else to have to live with that either. I refuse to give up until I find the one passion that endlessly burns inside me and motivates me to wake up every day and give 110 percent. And neither should you.
I believe in all of us: the people who are still searching. We still have time, and it will certainly be worth the wait. Maybe we won't figure out our specific path tomorrow or next week, but we will eventually. We've got this.
