I am a just about to finish my freshman year of college and let me tell you, it wasn't easy.
I spent my first semester struggling to find my place here on campus and who my people would be.
But then I met my best friend, who is a sister of Alpha Chi Omega (AXO), and she convinced me to rush.
If you have watched the show "Scream Queens," like I am right now, then you think you have some idea as to what a sorority is like. The tier system with a tyrant as president, you have to lose weight and look absolutely stunning every day, you have to party, drink and do a whole bunch of hazing.
But it's all a lie.
I joined Alpha Chi Omega thinking those things would happen to me.
But instead, I was in for a rude awakening — in a good way!
My sisters are some of the sweetest girls I have ever met. They are there for me when I need them most and they provide a little security blanket from the mean, drunk fraternity brothers (that's a small percent, most are absolutely amazing). I also have been exposed to so many great leadership and volunteering opportunities.
Recruiting with Alpha Chi Omega was the smartest decision I've made this year so far.
Now I'm not saying that AXO is the only best sorority out there, it just worked for me. There are so many other organizations out there like Delta Delta Delta or Zeta Tau Alpha. It is up to you do decide which you align with and feel most comfortable with, that is if you want to formally recruit.
